Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently participated in a lively yoga session in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, hosted by the Yoga Federation of Uzbekistan. This engaging event underscored the growing appeal of yoga in the Central Asian nation, serving as a powerful bridge for cultural exchange and strengthening the bond between India and Uzbekistan.
The Prime Minister is currently on a significant two-day state visit to Uzbekistan, from August 29 to 30, at the invitation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. This marks PM Modi's fourth visit to the country, highlighting the deepening strategic partnership between the two nations. Upon his arrival in Tashkent on Saturday, August 29, PM Modi received a warm and cordial welcome from President Mirziyoyev.
His itinerary included a visit to the historic Yangi Uzbekistan Park, where he paid respects by laying a wreath at the Independence Monument alongside the Uzbek President.
A highlight of his visit was an interaction with the vibrant Indian community residing in Tashkent.
During this gathering, PM Modi enjoyed captivating cultural performances, including traditional Indian Kathak dance, the lively Andijan Polka by the diaspora, and a charming dance by Uzbek children set to the popular Indian song "Ude Jab Jab Zulfe Teri." The evening further showcased a unique fusion performance featuring the tabla alongside traditional Uzbek instruments like the Doira and Chang, symbolizing the harmonious blend of cultures. Beyond the cultural engagements, the visit is packed with crucial diplomatic discussions.
PM Modi is scheduled to hold delegation-level talks with President Mirziyoyev to further solidify the strategic partnership. The leaders are expected to meticulously review ongoing cooperation across a wide array of sectors, including trade and investment, defence, digital connectivity, energy, education, and people-to-people ties.
This visit is poised to foster greater collaboration and mutual prosperity, reinforcing India's commitment to its Central Asian partners.
