Modi & Putin to Meet at SCO Summit! Key Bilateral Talks Ahead 🇮🇳🇷🇺

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to hold bilateral talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. This significant meeting marks the first bilateral interaction between the two leaders since President Putin's visit to India in December 2025 for the annual summit, according to reports.

The high-level engagement follows closely on the heels of External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar’s recent visit to Moscow. During his trip, Jaishankar attended the 27th India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Cooperation and also met with President Putin, setting the stage for the leaders' summit.

PM Modi's diplomatic tour will commence with a visit to Uzbekistan from August 29-30.

Following his engagements in Uzbekistan, the Prime Minister will proceed to Kyrgyzstan to attend the SCO summit, scheduled to take place in Bishkek from August 31 to September 1.

The bilateral discussions with President Putin are expected to cover a wide range of topics, including strategic cooperation, economic ties, and regional as well as international issues of mutual interest.

This meeting underscores the continuing importance of the India-Russia special and privileged strategic partnership amidst evolving geopolitical dynamics.

The SCO summit itself is a crucial platform for regional cooperation, bringing together leaders from member states to discuss security, economic, and cultural collaboration across Eurasia.
