BRICS Summit Fallout: Delhi Schools & Offices Shut, Traffic Chaos Expected!

The capital city of Delhi is gearing up for significant logistical changes due to the upcoming BRICS Summit, scheduled to take place at Bharat Mandapam from September 11 to 13. As a direct consequence of this high-profile international event, Delhi's schools and all central government offices will remain closed on September 11, urging citizens to prepare for altered routines.

Adding to the closures, extensive traffic restrictions and diversions are being implemented across the city.

Motorists should anticipate disruptions at approximately 22 diversion points spread across more than 35 key roads.

These include major arteries such as Sardar Patel Marg, Mother Teresa Crescent, Teen Murti Marg, Akbar Road, and Mathura Road, among many others.

To manage the anticipated heavy traffic and facilitate smooth movement for the leaders from around 30 BRICS member and partner countries, the Delhi Police has issued detailed advisories. Specific diversion routes have been outlined; for instance, at Dr Dinesh Nandini Dalmia Chowk, vehicles bound for East and South Delhi will be redirected via BSZ Marg and IP Marg, while those heading towards Central, North, and West Delhi will use BSZ Marg and Delhi Gate.

New Delhi and Connaught Place will see diversions via Sikandra Road, with Mathura Road and Tilak Marg becoming prohibited routes at certain points.

Residents are advised to stay updated on the latest traffic advisories and plan their commutes well in advance, especially for September 11.

Even rehearsals for the motorcades are causing temporary restrictions, highlighting the scale of the arrangements for the summit.
