The 2019 film Fighting With My Family, which tells the true story of wrestler Paige, is being adapted into a stage musical in a collaboration between Dwayne Johnson’s production outfit and a UK-based company. The project aims to bring the film’s blend of family, sport and heart to live theater, inviting audiences beyond wrestling fans to experience the story on stage.
Tilted Musicals, the company led by Miranda Cooper and Sam Hodges, is overseeing the adaptation. Cooper described the project as something that will resonate beyond fans of wrestling, highlighting how the story centers on family, community and belonging, and how those themes translate well to the stage.
Jon Brittain will write the musical adaptation, with the soundtrack set by Cooper and Nick Coler. The development team is drawing on the film’s roots in the 2012 Channel 4 documentary The Wrestlers: Fighting with My Family, which followed the Knight family’s journey in the world of professional wrestling.
The musical is pitched as a celebration of the theater itself—theatrical storytelling, clear heroes and villains, and a live experience that can capture both the drama of the ring and the warmth of a tight-knit family. While a formal release date hasn’t been announced, the project signals a growing trend of cinematic stories making their way to the stage from the UK, with London as a likely focal point for its premiere.
