Rajshri Deshpande Reveals Early-Stage Breast Cancer, Recovering Well
Rajshri Deshpande opens up about her early-stage breast cancer diagnosis and successful surgery, thanking doctors and supporters as she recovers.
Indian actor Rajshri Deshpande, best known for Sacred Games and Trial by Fire, has announced she is undergoing treatment for early-stage breast cancer. She says she is recovering well after a successful surgery and shared the news in an Instagram post alongside a photo from the hospital.
She has been diagnosed with Infiltrating Ductal Carcinoma (NOS), a Grade 1 breast cancer. Doctors caught it early during a routine checkup, giving the family a fighting chance. "We fortunately caught this early in a routine checkup which gave us a fighting chance. Tons of tests and surgery felt like a rollercoaster ride, but trust me it was everyone's love and warmth that carried me through," Deshpande wrote.
Deshpande praised the doctors at Kokilaben Hospital for their care, saying the journey felt gentler thanks to their expert care. Seeing her Aai and papa’s faces after surgery melted her fears into unbreakable strength, and with everyone’s support she feels ready to take on the world again.
Off the screen, the 43-year-old actor is also a social worker. Through her Nabhangan Foundation, she has worked to restore water supplies, build toilets, educate girls, and empower women in drought-prone villages in Maharashtra. She notes that her 2026 goals — more school building and river revival projects — remain on track, and the diagnosis hasn't paused her plans.
In closing, she said she is walking into this journey with faith, courage and love, and hopes to be home soon as she continues her recovery.
