Five Killed as Car Jumps Median, Crashes Into KSRTC Bus Near Nelamangala
A speeding car jumped the median and struck a KSRTC bus near Nelamangala, Bengaluru, killing five and injuring several others as investigators review CCTV footage.
Five people were killed and several injured when a car jumped a median and collided with a KSRTC bus on Tumakuru Road near Nelamangala on the outskirts of Bengaluru, around 12 a.m. on Sunday, February 15, 2026.
Preliminary investigations point to speeding; the car, owned by Lalith and driven by Keshav, carried five occupants: Dhanush (17), Durga Prasad (20), Keshav (19), Lalith (22) and Harshith (20), all residents of Doddaballapur. The group were friends on a trip, with some families told they were meeting a friend or visiting a temple. The car reportedly veered onto the opposite carriageway after descending from the Navayuga Toll flyover near Jindal Hospital and hit the KSRTC bus headed toward Nelamangala. The car was destroyed in the impact. The bus front was damaged; a few front-row passengers sustained minor injuries, and the driver and conductor also suffered minor injuries. All 42 passengers on board escaped with minor injuries.
Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage from around the area as they await the autopsy report to confirm whether the driver was intoxicated. This incident follows a pile-up near Hoskote two days earlier that killed seven people. Authorities are expected to issue safety advisories and consider road-safety measures for this stretch of Tumakuru Road.
