The torrential rains have caused significant chaos, with suburban train services severely impacted on main and harbour lines, leading to extensive delays and cancellations. Roads across the city have been inundated, making travel nearly impossible and resulting in widespread road closures and traffic snarls. Additionally, reports of house collapses have emerged, adding to the city's woes.
In response to the escalating situation, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has maintained a red alert, indicating that heavy rains are expected to continue. As a precautionary measure, schools and colleges throughout Mumbai have been ordered to shut down, with rescue teams and civic authorities deployed and remaining on high alert to manage the crisis.
