President Vladimir Putin stated on Sunday, June 28, 2026, that Russia requires enhanced anti-aircraft capabilities to counter the persistent Ukrainian drone strikes targeting its oil infrastructure. Despite these challenges, Mr. Putin asserted that the country is effectively managing the issues caused by these attacks.
During a Russian television interview, the President emphasized the critical need to rapidly and significantly increase the production of essential air defense systems. He firmly declared that these Ukrainian strikes, regardless of their targets on Russian infrastructure, would not deter Moscow's strategic plans to advance on the front lines of the more than four-year-old conflict. "All the strikes, wherever they hit our infrastructure, absolutely do not affect the situation on the front, on the line of combat contact," he reiterated.
Shifting focus to international relations, Mr. Putin also mentioned that he anticipates a team of U.S. negotiators to arrive in Moscow. This visit is expected to occur once Washington has concluded an agreement with Iran regarding the West Asia conflict.
