Palaniswami stressed that the AIADMK-led alliance has built a solid base and is prepared to widen the umbrella as conversations with potential allies proceed.
He highlighted the broader political calculus, noting that a broader coalition could consolidate anti-DMK sentiment into a shared program, while asserting the alliance’s past electoral strength as a guide for future wins. The meeting occurred amid ongoing chatter that the BJP has encouraged Palaniswami to consider reuniting with former AIADMK stalwarts like OPS (O. Panneerselvam) and TTV Dhinakaran within a broader NDA framework, a prospect that would reshape Tamil Nadu’s political landscape. Citing electoral math from recent polls, Palaniswami claimed the AIADMK-BJP combined vote share stood at about 41.33%, a figure he used to project a minimum of 84 Assembly seats and a bold forecast of 210 seats in the 2026 elections. He asserted that the DMK government had not fulfilled many of its promises and framed the AIADMK as a party delivering welfare gains for women and other segments when it was last in power.
