Maura Higgins to Host Blind Date Reboot on Disney+! ✨

Get ready to shout “Our Graham, who’s on the show tonight?” once more, as the iconic British dating series Blind Date is making a grand return, and stepping into the coveted hosting role is none other than Irish model and reality TV star, Maura Higgins. Disney+ has confirmed that Higgins, a fan favourite from Love Island and a recent finalist on The Traitors US, will be guiding singletons on their quest for love.

The 35-year-old, originally from Ballymahon in Co Longford, shot to fame on the 2019 series of Love Island, captivating audiences with her no-nonsense attitude and quick wit. Her recent success in America, reaching the final of The Traitors US, has further cemented her status as a global reality television personality. She also presents the Love Island USA spin-off show Aftersun, demonstrating her experience in the dating show sphere.

The Disney+ reboot promises to stay true to the beloved original format, where one lucky contestant chooses between three mystery potential suitors, all hidden from view behind a sliding wall. However, viewers can also expect some "format twists" to keep things fresh and exciting for a new generation of romantics. Filming for the series is slated to begin later this year at a secret location.

Blind Date holds a special place in British television history. The original series, hosted by the legendary Cilla Black, aired on ITV from 1985 to 2003. Black was famous for her catchphrases and for joking about needing to buy a wedding hat whenever a couple seemed to hit it off.

The show saw a brief revival in 2017, with Paul O'Grady taking on hosting duties.
