Asked about World Cup readiness, he publicly questioned the likelihood of Bangladesh's participation, saying, \"Are you sure we are going to play in the World Cup?\"
He noted there has been no discussion with the Bangladesh Cricket Board about the World Cup decision, despite his role as T20I captain. \"No, I don't know, but it hasn't happened with me,\" he said, underscoring the leadership gap amid the pause between domestic results and international selection.
Bangladesh has rejected what it calls \"unreasonable conditions\" set by the ICC for a World Cup in India, arguing that venue concerns should be resolved first. Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Nazrul said the board would not bow to pressure, pointing to past precedents when a change of venue was used to resolve disputes. He added, \"There are precedents in international cricket, when India refused to play in Pakistan, the ICC changed the venue, and we have reasonably asked for a venue Change.\"
