In Guwahati, as campaigning intensifies ahead of the Assam assembly elections, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led government, calling it the country’s most corrupt and accusing Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma of enriching himself instead of serving the people. He cited a mood change among voters and said the Congress would win a substantial number of seats, urging residents to weigh the record of the government before casting their ballots. Kharge argued that Sarma and his administration have fostered a climate of corruption, pointing to alleged land deals and the acquisition of companies, tea ventures, and resorts as examples of self-enrichment rather than public service.
