Iran-Israel clash widens as missiles strike Israel and Lebanon

Iran launched more missiles at Israel and U.S. bases as the war in West Asia entered its sixth day, with Israel reporting several incoming attacks and intercepting the missiles. Israel’s military said it began new strikes against the Iranian-backed Hezbollah in Lebanon, signaling a widening battlefield across the region.

Oil markets reacted to the growing risk, with prices resuming an ascent as traders weighed potential supply disruptions and the broader risk to regional stability.

Diplomatic exchanges also intensified. Iran’s ambassador to South Korea warned that Seoul should press for a halt to what he called illegal aggression by U.S. and Israeli forces, suggesting the possibility of further escalation if ground operations were pursued. The Israeli ambassador in Seoul countered that the joint U.S.-Israeli actions aim to destroy Iran’s nuclear development facilities and ballistic missile sites, framing the operations as a step toward freeing Iranian people from oppression.

South Korea has expressed support for U.S.-led diplomatic efforts to curb Iran’s nuclear ambitions but stopped short of explicit endorsement of the attacks, reflecting a delicate balance between alliance commitments and regional stability.
