Nathan Gill, 52, the former leader of Reform UK in Wales, has been jailed for 10 and a half years after admitting taking bribes while serving as a member of the European Parliament. The court heard he accepted around £40,000 from an individual linked to Russia, with the payments tied to pro-Russia statements he promoted during his tenure.
A Reform UK spokesperson described the actions as reprehensible, treasonous and unforgivable, and welcomed the sentence as justice served. Political figures from Labour, Plaid Cymru and the Liberal Democrats criticized what they called a breach of trust and urged further probes into potential foreign influence on the political process. Farage previously said he had no knowledge of Gill's activities and condemned them in every possible way.
