A shocking incident has led to the suspension of eight employees at the revered Koniamman Temple on Periakadai Veedhi in Coimbatore. The action comes after allegations of a significant hundial (collection box) theft during the counting process on July 15.
Tamil Nadu's Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Minister Ramesh personally ordered the suspensions. According to the Minister, four workers were allegedly involved in stealing one of the hundials, while officials present at the scene reportedly failed to intervene or take immediate action against the culprits.
"We have ordered the suspension of eight employees, including officials who were complicit or negligent. The police have also registered a case against them, and a thorough investigation is underway," stated Minister Ramesh, emphasizing the government's zero-tolerance policy towards such malpractices, especially in religious institutions.
