Govt Targets MSME Export Boost with New Mission
Govt Targets MSME Export Boost with New Mission
India's Export Promotion Mission launches pilot schemes to help MSMEs access cheaper export credit and collateral-backed finance: interest support for pre- and post-shipment credit and collateral relief, with monitoring.
The government has started two important actions as part of the Export Promotion Mission to boost MSME exports and improve access to trade finance. The first action provides interest support for pre and post-shipment export credit. This aims to lower the cost of export credit and help MSME exporters with working capital issues.

The official handle of the Directorate General of Foreign Trade under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, posted on the X handle,
The Government has launched Collateral Support for Export Credit under EXPORT PROMOTION MISSION – NIRYAT PROTSAHAN, enabling MSME exporters to access bank credit even with limited collateral or third-party guarantees.

The second action offers collateral support for export credit. This aims to tackle the collateral challenges that MSME exporters face and enhance their access to bank financing. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry stated that these two actions will be tested on a pilot basis, with ongoing monitoring and adjustments based on data.

The government has introduced various actions under the Export Promotion Mission, a key initiative approved by the Union Cabinet in November last year. The total budget is over 25 thousand crore rupees for the period from 2025-26 to 2030-31.
The Mission aims to boost the country’s export competitiveness, focusing on MSMEs, first-time exporters, and labor-intensive sectors. It also supports market diversification and the promotion of value-added exports.
By empowering the smallest units of the economy to look beyond borders, the government is betting on the fact that the future of "Brand India" lies in the hands of its millions of small-scale entrepreneurs.
