Telangana Erupts in Ganesh Chaturthi Joy! 🐘✨ Hyderabad's 69-ft Idol Steals Show

The nine-day Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations have officially kicked off with immense devotional fervour and gaiety across Telangana, starting Monday, September 14, 2026. From bustling Hyderabad to quaint towns and villages, countless Lord Ganesha idols of various sizes and forms have been lovingly installed in homes, apartment complexes, and at prominent road corners, ready for worship.

Hyderabad woke up to a beautifully pleasant morning, following an overnight drizzle, with devotees eagerly visiting markets to purchase idols and all the essential puja materials. Temples across the state witnessed large crowds, and prayers echoed from homes as families welcomed Vinayaka Chavithi, as the festival is known in Telangana and neighbouring Andhra Pradesh.

A significant highlight of this year's celebrations is the colossal 69-foot-tall Ganesh idol at the renowned Khairatabad pandal in Hyderabad. This magnificent idol has been named 'Pancha Mukha Sankata Hara Maha Ganapati,' a powerful appellation reflecting the wish for the removal of all obstacles for devotees. Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla was among the dignitaries who offered prayers at this giant idol, extending his blessings to all.

Authorities have taken comprehensive measures to ensure the smooth and secure conduct of the festivities.

The Telangana Chief Minister has specifically requested Ganesh mandap organisers to share details of invitees with the police for enhanced security.

Additionally, the government and police have made elaborate arrangements, including reviewing traffic flow and planning for the grand immersion ceremonies that will take place after the nine-day period. Ganesh Agamans in Hyderabad are already turning into major celebrations, with the vibrant sounds of dhol-tasha, dazzling lights, and fireworks adding to the festive glow.

Following the nine-day festivities, thousands of these beloved idols will be immersed in water bodies, including the iconic Hussain Sagar lake and other lakes and tanks throughout Hyderabad.
