Do You Know the Best Mafia Movies? Start with A Bronx Tale!

I am great fan of crime and gangster movies especially the Italian Mafia ones. Some of the best movies in this genre are Godfather series, Goodfella's, Casino, Donni Brasco, The Untouchables... etc, If you haven't seen these then you can start of with A Bronx Tale; this is chapter one of the Mafia world. This is Robert De Nero's first movie as a director and Chazz Palminteri who's the writer and has done the screen play also.

The plot is very simple, Robert De Nero is an honest man and is a bus driver by profession. He lives in Bronx and wants his kid to grow up and become a honest man like him. His kid is charmed by Sonny's (played by Chazz Palminteri) personality who is local Mafia boss and often tries to imitate his style (Sonny had five fingers, but he only used three).

The movie is about this kid's (Calogero or "C" as renamed by Sonny) experiences growing up in the Bronx and his learnings from his father Lorenzo (De Nero) and Sonny (Palminteri). "C" is caught up between his dad who doesn't want him to waste his talent and Sonny who tries to make street smart and wise. Its a very beautiful film and imparts a lot of lessons.

One of the questions that leaves the kid puzzled are lines from De Nero "You did a good thing for the bad guy". The screenplay and direction is just fantastic. The movie is not as violent like its counter parts and is a good watch for the entire family.
