Teachers Outraged: "Irumudi" Film Faces Backlash Over School Depiction!

The Telugu film "Irumudi" has landed in hot water, stirring up significant controversy shortly after its release. The Andhra Pradesh Teachers Federation (APTF) has vociferously objected to several scenes within the movie, claiming they unfavorably depict government schools and their dedicated educators.
According to the APTF's State President, Chennupati Manjula, and General Secretary, K. Basavalinga Rao, the film portrays the character of a government school teacher in an extremely negative light. They argue that this portrayal cannot simply be dismissed as a fictional character, especially since the film explicitly shows a government school located in Andhra Pradesh.
The federation leaders highlighted that cinema is a powerful medium with a profound influence on society, capable of leaving lasting impressions. Therefore, they stressed the importance of filmmakers exercising social responsibility when depicting institutions like government schools, teachers, and students. They pointed out that the uniforms worn by students in the film are strikingly similar to those currently used in state government schools, further blurring the lines between fiction and reality.
Adding to their concerns, the film reportedly references a Zilla Parishad Girls’ High School at Sileru in the Alluri Sitarama Raju district, using this authentic setting to frame its narrative. The APTF fears that such depictions could severely undermine the dignity of government school teachers and create a negative perception of the entire government school system among the public. In response, the federation has issued a strong demand for the filmmakers to remove the objectionable scenes immediately and issue a public apology.
They have also appealed to the AP Film Development Corporation and other relevant authorities to examine the matter and take appropriate action. As of now, the team behind "Irumudi" has not made any public comments regarding these serious allegations from the teachers' federation.
