An urgent public health alert has been issued after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) elevated the recall of Alfredo sauce produced by The Coffee Connexion Co. Inc. to a Class I risk level. This is the highest classification, indicating a "reasonable probability" that consuming the contaminated product could lead to serious illness or even death due to potential salmonella contamination.
The recall, initially announced on May 6, was upgraded on June 4, highlighting the severe nature of the threat. A key ingredient, a dry milk powder, has been identified as the source of the potential contamination. The Tennessee-based company voluntarily initiated the recall following a warning from their supplier about the ingredient.
A significant quantity of the sauce is affected, with 913 cases under recall. Each case contains 12 sealed poly bags, each weighing three pounds, seven ounces. The recalled Alfredo sauce is distributed in 41 U.S. states, reaching almost every corner of the country with the exception of Alaska, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, North Dakota, Vermont, and West Virginia.

The affected products can be identified by their UPC 0039954921963 and include specific batches with "best-by" dates ranging from January 12, 2028, to April 20, 2028. These batches are 046188 through 046193, 047290 through 047296, 048029 through 048034, and 049089 through 049094.
