PM Modi Extends Makar Sankranti Greetings, Writes to AP, TS
Prime Minister Modi sends festival wishes to Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Assam, highlighting harvest joy, farmers' contributions, and cultural unity across India.
In a message that blends politics with culture, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended greetings on Makar Sankranti and wrote to the people of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. He described Sankranti as a festival of hope, positivity and new beginnings, a time to recognise the farmers who toil to feed the nation. In the letters, Modi highlighted the festival’s role in celebrating the harvest and the strong links between rural life and the rhythms of nature. He said Sankranti brings families together and showcases the country’s cultural unity through different regional forms.
In a separate note to Assam, Modi extended Magh Bihu greetings, calling it a festival that reflects the best of Assamese culture and marks the completion of the harvest season. The Prime Minister expressed gratitude for those who enrich lives with generosity, care and brotherhood and urged people to carry forward these values.
The PM also sent Pongal wishes, speaking of the close relationship between human labour and agricultural cycles. He described Pongal as deeply connected with Tamil traditions and noted Tamil’s status as one of the oldest living languages in the world. He underlined how Pongal strengthens family bonds and honours the dignity of work.
Across India, Modi said Sankranti is celebrated in many forms but with shared enthusiasm, reflecting the nation’s cultural unity and the ongoing importance of farmers’ contributions to society.
