UK Heatwave Alert! ☀️ Fifth Scorcher Expected, Could Hit 35°C Next Week!

Get ready to feel the heat, as the United Kingdom is bracing for its fifth widespread heatwave of the year, with temperatures expected to climb significantly and potentially hit 35°C in some regions. This comes after an already record-breaking summer.

Temperatures are set to begin their upward trend this Saturday, with much of England and Wales seeing highs in the mid-to-high 20s Celsius. Scotland and Northern Ireland will experience slightly cooler conditions, ranging from 17°C to 21°C, accompanied by more cloud cover, some rain, and blustery winds.

As we move into Sunday and the start of next week, the mercury will rise even further. Many areas across the UK are projected to exceed their heatwave threshold temperatures, which typically range from 25°C to 28°C depending on the specific location. With this hot spell anticipated to last well into the week, numerous places are expected to record the three consecutive days needed to officially declare the fifth widespread heatwave of 2023.

This summer has been remarkable for its extreme weather patterns. July was not only the sunniest month on record for the entire UK but also the driest July ever recorded for England and Wales. So far this year, temperatures have surpassed 30°C on 33 separate days. Next week's heat could easily break the previous record of 34 days, set back in 1995.

Adding to the unprecedented nature of this summer, a temperature of 35°C has been recorded somewhere in the UK during May, June, and July, an occurrence never before seen in three consecutive months. Forecasters are even suggesting that August might join this list by the end of next week, with some models predicting 35°C in central and south-east England.
