Gehlot's comments, made on Monday, come amidst his strong push for opposition unity and his call for Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to lead the INDIA alliance.
Speaking on the need to strengthen the opposition front, Gehlot urged all parties that had previously separated from the Congress to rejoin and "wholeheartedly" accept Rahul Gandhi as their leader. He stated, "If a leader like Indira Gandhi were alive today, she would have banned a party like the BJP." This assertion underscores his belief in the critical nature of the current political landscape.
Gehlot also expressed deep concern over the prevailing political atmosphere in the country, describing it as "dangerous." He drew a parallel to Indira Gandhi's time, recalling the "Congress hatao, desh bachao" campaign launched against her.
