SIT Files Chargesheet in Sai Krishna Custodial Death; CBI Probe Demanded!
Major development in the Sai Krishna alleged custodial death case! SIT files chargesheet, but questions rise about missing CCTV footage. Congress demands CBI probe. Get the full story.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has reportedly filed its chargesheet in the alleged custodial death of Gade Sai Krishna, who died while in the custody of Krishnalanka police. This significant development comes as the case continues to draw scrutiny and calls for a more thorough investigation.
The chargesheet, submitted to the court on Monday, details the circumstances surrounding Sai Krishna's arrest on May 6, 2026, by Krishnalanka police. It reportedly outlines his alleged illegal detainment and torture, a habeas corpus petition filed by his mother, Vijaya Lakshmi, his subsequent death, and concerns regarding the disposal of his body and evidence.
So far, seven individuals, including the then Krishnalanka police station Circle Inspector S.S.V.V.
Nagaraju, have been arrested in connection with the case.
However, amidst these developments, the investigation itself is facing criticism. The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) vice-president Kolanukonda Shivaji has raised serious questions about the SIT's handling of evidence. Shivaji highlighted the perplexing failure to secure crucial CCTV footage, specifically from the Krishnalanka police station and the route to the crematorium.
This omission, according to the Congress, casts a shadow of doubt on the investigation's integrity, especially coming days after a fourth accused surrendered.
The Congress party is now vehemently demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the matter.
They argue that a CBI inquiry is essential to ensure a transparent and unbiased investigation, given the alleged lapses and the gravity of the accusations involving police personnel. The case remains a high-profile concern, with public and political pressure mounting for justice for Sai Krishna.
