Maha Kumbh 2025: Devotees Endure 350 km Traffic Jam Near Prayagraj

The Maha Kumbh Mela, one of the world's largest religious gatherings, has drawn an overwhelming number of devotees to Prayagraj. This massive turnout has resulted in a 350-kilometer-long traffic jam on National Highway 30, affecting the Prayagraj-Rewa-Katni-Jabalpur route. Many pilgrims have been stranded for over 11 hours, with the congestion extending into parts of Madhya Pradesh, including cities like Katni and Maihar.

Authorities have implemented measures such as one-way traffic plans to manage the situation. However, the sheer volume of vehicles has made these efforts challenging. Local administrations are providing food and shelter to those affected, but the scale of the congestion has made relief efforts difficult.

The Maha Kumbh Mela is held every 12 years and is expected to attract around 400 million people over its 45-day duration. The Uttar Pradesh government has invested significantly in infrastructure and facilities to accommodate the influx, including the construction of tents, portable toilets, and special trains. Despite these preparations, the current traffic situation highlights the challenges of managing such a large gathering.

In light of the congestion, authorities are advising pilgrims to plan their travel carefully and consider alternative routes. They are also urging patience and cooperation from the public as they work to alleviate the situation.
