PH5's Spring 2027 Ready-to-Wear collection takes us back to the brand's core, as designer Zoe Champion and CEO Wei Lin delve into the rich origins that define their innovative knitwear. This season is a profound celebration of both natural and cultural roots, demonstrating how the brand is built on a foundation of genuine passion and heritage.

At the heart of PH5 is a factory in Dongguan, China, managed by Lin's mother, Liqin Cheng, who rose from an entry-level position. Lin proudly challenges stereotypes, stating,

A lot of times people think of Chinese factories as sweatshops, but I think deep down my mom really has a passion for knitwear and so do the people who work there.

Cheng has fostered a warm, homey environment, even inspiring some of the season's patterns from flowers planted around the building and motifs from a nearby park where staff relax, creating a truly personal touch to the designs.

The collection masterfully weaves in cultural narratives. Qipao-style dresses and delicate frog closures directly reference traditional Chinese attire, tapping into a growing global interest in Chinese culture, which Champion notes is fueled by trends like TikTok's "Chinamaxxing." Lin observes a significant "rediscovery or discovery that's happening at the moment," especially since China opened its borders.

She believes this has helped "bridge the gap between what they thought was China or what the media portrayed as China and what China really is.

People are traveling and they are seeing China with their own eyes."
