Mamata Banerjee says BJP is deploying entire cabinet to win Bengal polls

Mamata Banerjee, addressing a rally at Uttarpara in Hooghly district, claimed the BJP has deployed its entire political machinery to defeat her party in West Bengal's assembly elections, with almost the entire Union cabinet and NDA-ruled state chief ministers camping in the state. She alleged the BJP is making false promises to migrant workers from West Bengal employed outside the state. "The BJP is desperate, with 50 helicopters flying into West Bengal as almost the entire Union cabinet, from the PM to home, railway and defence ministers, as well as CMs of 19 NDA-ruled states camping in a single state: West Bengal," she said, contrasting it with the TMC’s campaign, which she said uses far fewer resources. Banerjee noted the presence of central forces wherever her caravan goes and claimed armoured vehicles are being brought in where they are not needed.\n\nShe also criticized Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement that TMC-aided goons would be hanged upside down after results, saying, "As a Union minister and a responsible leader, you cannot utter such words. You are speaking in the language of terror. I know no action will be taken against you. But I have asked our men to videograph his speech and submit the same to the court." Banerjee further said Shah should be in Manipur, where violence has claimed lives and displaced thousands, rather than being in West Bengal during the campaign. She added that he won’t go there out of fear.\n\nBanerjee asserted that the phase-1 turnout was a signal to the electorate and warned that the BJP’s hype would end when poll results are announced on May 4. The rally underscored the high-stakes nature of the state elections as both sides mobilize resources and wage a heated battle for trust and mandate.
