IAF pays tribute to Wg Cdr Syal after Tejas crash at Dubai Air Show

The Indian Air Force is mourning the loss of Wing Commander Namansh Syal, a dedicated fighter pilot who served the nation with unwavering commitment and professional excellence. Syal was killed when the indigenous Tejas aircraft crashed during an aerial display at the Dubai Air Show, around 2:10 pm local time. The eight-minute demonstration had been underway when the tragedy struck, ending with a ball of fire that left colleagues and spectators in shock.
Syal, who hailed from Himachal Pradesh, left behind a wife who is also an IAF officer, their six-year-old daughter, and his parents. In a post paying tribute, the IAF called him a thorough professional who displayed exceptional skill and a steadfast sense of duty throughout his career. The tributes also featured photos of him in uniform and in his pilot’s overall, alongside a video showing a respectful send-off for the fallen air warrior.
The send-off was attended by UAE officials, colleagues, friends, and Indian Embassy representatives, with wreaths laid before a casket draped in the tricolour. A video clip captured the solemn moment of remembrance as colleagues saluted and a collective sense of grief united all those who knew him. The IAF has expressed solidarity with Syal’s family in this hour of profound grief and has vowed to honour his legacy of courage and devotion to the country.
