Pune is gripped by the unfolding drama in the Ketan Agarwal murder case, as investigators reveal more perplexing details. Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary, the prime accused in the alleged pushing to death of Pune realtor Ketan Agarwal from Lohagad Fort on June 18, were recently brought before Judicial Magistrate First Class A.M. Vibhute.
The prosecution had sought a three-day extension of their police custody, citing crucial evidence discovered from their mobile phones. According to the police, data recovered from the phones of Siya and Chetan contained conversations in signs and coded language. Investigators argued that further custodial interrogation was essential to decipher these complex communications and uncover the full truth behind Agarwal's death.
However, the defense counsel strongly opposed the extension plea, asserting that the police had already been granted ample time for their investigation and that additional custodial interrogation was unwarranted. After carefully considering arguments from both sides, the court ultimately rejected the prosecution's request. Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary have since been remanded in judicial custody until July 16.
The prosecution also informed the court about significant steps taken in the investigation. Police conducted a panchnama (an official record of facts or circumstances) at the location where Goyal allegedly disposed of Agarwal's passport while traveling towards Mumbai. Furthermore, investigators carried out another panchnama at a site where Goyal and Chaudhary reportedly rehearsed the alleged act of killing Agarwal.
Assistant Public Prosecutor Rajashree Virkud highlighted that a second mobile phone belonging to Goyal has been recovered and sent to the forensic science laboratory (FSL) for examination. Data from phones seized earlier has already been retrieved, and the forensic report is in hand, confirming the presence of coded chats. The ongoing investigation aims to crack these codes and bring clarity to the mysterious events surrounding Ketan Agarwal's tragic demise.
