Young Couple's Tragic End: Love Opposed, Lives Lost in Rajamahendravaram
Heartbreaking incident in Rajamahendravaram as a young couple's love story ends tragically. Allegedly rejected by families over community, one killed, the other critical. Follow for updates.
A shocking and tragic incident unfolded in Rajamahendravaram on Monday night, August 10, 2026, where a 21-year-old woman, Varada Prasanna, was allegedly killed by her partner, Kusuma Abhilash, also 21. Following the alleged murder, Abhilash reportedly attempted to take his own life, a desperate act the police suggest was an attempt by the couple to die together.
The grim discovery was made around 11:30 p.m. near the Fourth Bridge after National Highway authorities alerted the city police to the presence of two individuals and a two-wheeler abandoned on the roadside. East Godavari Superintendent of Police D. Narasimha Kishore confirmed that Ms. Prasanna succumbed to knife injuries. Abhilash was found unconscious and is currently in critical condition at a private hospital.
Preliminary investigations, based on information provided by Abhilash, indicate that the couple tragically decided to end their lives after their parents allegedly rejected their marriage proposal, citing community differences. The couple had reportedly arrived at the scene on their two-wheeler around 8:30 p.m. The Three Town police have registered a case, and a thorough investigation into the incident is ongoing. Ms. Prasanna's body has been sent for post-mortem examination at the Government General Hospital.
This heartbreaking event serves as a stark reminder of the immense pressures young couples can face. For anyone experiencing distress or suicidal thoughts, help is available. The East Godavari police helpline can be reached at 70757-49825, and Tele-MANAS offers support at 14416.
