PM Modi hails the budget as historic—a growth-packed plan with high capex, deficit discipline, and a road map to a $5 trillion economy and a developed India by 2047.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday framed the Union Budget as historic, calling it a highway of immense opportunities that will accelerate the country’s reform drive. He said the budget is a strong base for India’s high flight toward a developed India (Viksit Bharat) by 2047 and will empower the nation’s global role. He described it as a unique budget focused on reducing the fiscal deficit, controlling inflation, and coordinating high capex with high growth. This, he argued, would advance the country’s path from a trusted democratic partner to a trusted quality supplier on the world stage.
The prime minister highlighted measures aimed at boosting tourism, with special emphasis on the Northeast, and underscored a roadmap that supports flagship schemes such as Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan. He also noted that the budget sets the stage for strengthened infrastructure through targeted investments that align with India’s goal of becoming a $5 trillion economy. He was explicit about leveraging recent big trade deals — including a notable pact with the European Union — for the benefit of India’s youth and its small and medium industries, referring to them as the most important recipients of these opportunities.
Modi stressed that the budget reflects the aspirations of 140 crore Indians and reinforces India’s role as a reliable, democratic partner in global commerce. He framed the budget as an ambitious plan that will translate into greater employment, more resilient supply chains, and a more competitive domestic industry through Make in India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat. He pointed to a combined emphasis on reform, responsible fiscal management, and inclusive growth as the engine driving India toward its target of becoming the world’s third-largest economy as soon as possible.
The budget, he said, realises the dreams of the present and provides a robust foundation for a sustained growth trajectory. By aligning high capex with prudent deficit management and focusing on human-centric policies, the government aims to deliver tangible benefits to the youth and MSMEs, while strengthening infrastructure that supports long-term development. The address framed the budget as a decisive step in building a more empowered, self-reliant, and globally competitive India.
