Melissa Gilbert is speaking out after her husband, Timothy Busfield, was arrested on charges of criminal sexual contact of a minor and child abuse connected to the set of The Cleaning Lady. Busfield, a veteran actor known for roles on The West Wing and Thirtysomething, has denied the accusations, calling the claims horrible lies. Authorities allege he engaged in unlawful sexual conduct with 11-year-old twin boys on the Fox series The Cleaning Lady, with the conduct reportedly beginning when the boys were around seven. One of the children later claimed that Busfield began touching his private areas over his clothes between takes.

The couple has been married since 2013, and Gilbert deactivated her personal Instagram page amid the case. An Albuquerque judge ordered Busfield’s release from custody earlier in the month as the case moves forward.
