Nagaur police uncover a massive cache of ammonium nitrate and explosives at a farm in Harsaur; central agencies join the probe as one man is arrested.
In Nagaur district, police uncovered a massive stockpile of ammonium nitrate along with other explosive materials at a secluded farm in Harsaur village. About 9,550 kg of ammonium nitrate were packed in 187 sacks, part of a cache totaling nearly 10,000 kg. One man, Suleman Khan, was arrested in connection with the recovery.
Investigators said the accused allegedly posed as an army officer and duped dozens of youths with promises of jobs in the armed forces. The raid, conducted on a tip-off, took place late Saturday night in Harsaur, where the stockpile was found along with explosive accessories, including nine cartons of detonators, multiple bundles of blue fuse wire, and several bundles of red fuse wire. Police noted that the materials could be dangerous and are being probed for their intended use, with investigations extending to possible links with mining activities in the region.
The operation has been registered under the Explosives Act, and central agencies have been notified to join the inquiry. Officials said the probe will map the network involved in the sale and distribution of such materials, as investigators seek to determine whether the explosives were destined for illegal mining or other illicit activities.
Officials emphasized that the discovery comes ahead of Republic Day, highlighting heightened vigilance across districts and the ongoing effort to curb the use of dangerous explosives in illegal enterprises.
