Gates praises Data Lake, WhatsApp Governance and AI-driven reforms as AP progresses Amaravati and digital records
During a brief visit to the RTGS (Real Time Governance System) Centre at the State Secretariat in Guntur district, Bill Gates praised Andhra Pradesh’s embrace of technology in governance. He observed how the state is weaving the latest digital tools into administration to speed up citizen services, including the Data Lake and WhatsApp Governance platforms, and he called the ongoing capital city development work a 'great work.'
Officials highlighted that land records are now secured using blockchain technology and QR codes, a move that Gates described as a key step toward safer, more transparent public data. He also noted the Sanjeevani digital health records pilot in the Kuppam Assembly constituency and the state's broader plan to deploy AI in health care, aiming to render 'bio-design medical services' and to offer low-cost diagnostic tests for the poor.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu outlined the governance framework, including periodic GDP growth estimates via KPI tracking, and thanked Gates for the long association that inspired tech-driven citizen empowerment since the 1990s. Naidu said the collaboration with the Gates Foundation is expanding to AI-led health reforms and the capital Amaravati’s development, with Sanjeevani and data-driven services at the core.
With AI and data-driven tools framing public service delivery, the government wants to scale up health diagnostics and expand digital records, while keeping privacy and security at the forefront. Gates’ remarks underscore the potential for affordable, accessible services as Andhra Pradesh strengthens its digital push and positions Amaravati as a model for tech-enabled governance.
