Former Turnstile guitarist arrested in Maryland on attempted murder charge

Brady Ebert, the former guitarist and co-founder of the Baltimore hardcore band Turnstile, was arrested in Maryland on a second-degree attempted murder charge on March 31, 2026. He was held without bond and a bail hearing is scheduled for April 2, according to case records from the District Court of Montgomery County. Authorities allege he struck Brendan Yates’s father, William, with his car, causing significant damage to the vehicle and injuries. The case marks a stark turn for a musician previously known for helping forge the band’s rise in the scene. Turnstile issued a statement saying, “We have no language left for Brady,” and confirmed that the group cut ties with Ebert in 2022 after a pattern of harmful behavior affecting himself, the band, and the community. The statement described a boundary being set when healthy communication was no longer possible and Ebert began threatening violence. It noted that in the years since, his public threats had escalated, and fans were asked to respect the band’s privacy during this time. Ebert formed Turnstile in 2010 with Brendan Yates, Daniel Fang, Franz Lyons, and Sean Cullen, and departed in August 2022. He had been absent from several live shows prior to his departure, initially replaced by Greg Cerwonka. Meg Mills later replaced him on Turnstile’s fall 2022 tour, a change announced by the band at the time. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 1.
