Officials said the repoll would cover a set of booths across South 24 Parganas, including 11 booths in Magrahat Paschim and four in Diamond Harbour. The decision to reschedule polling follows complaints of electoral malpractice in the two assembly segments.
Protests erupted in Falta as security forces were deployed. CRPF and RAF personnel were stationed at key locations, with protesters, including several women, voicing concerns about safety and demanding accountability for those accused.
In a separate development, the Supreme Court declined a TMC plea challenging the deployment of central government staff for the vote-counting process, setting a backdrop of continued political contention around the counting day.
