Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a 77-foot bronze statue of Lord Ram in Goa, marking the 550th-year celebrations of the Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math. The statue, designed by renowned sculptor Ram Sutar, is touted as the tallest of its kind in the world and was launched alongside plans for a Ramayana Theme Park to celebrate the epic tale. The event drew thousands of devotees and spectators, underscoring a renewed emphasis on cultural heritage in public life.
The ceremony, held at the mutt in Goa, showcased the statue’s imposing presence as part of a broader slate of programs planned from November 27 to December 7 to commemorate the 550-year legacy. Earlier in the day, Modi visited Udupi in Karnataka, where he offered prayers at Sri Krishna Matha and participated in a mass recitation of the Srimad Bhagavad Gita.
