Indian Student Killed in US Pizza Delivery 'Trap'

A devastating incident has shaken the Indian community in the United States, as Kuncha Anshul, a 28-year-old man from Telangana, was fatally shot during a pizza delivery in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The tragic event unfolded in the early hours of Saturday, local time, with preliminary findings suggesting the delivery may have been a setup.

Anshul, who moved to the U.S. in 2023 to pursue a Master's degree in Business Administration after completing his engineering studies in Hyderabad, was working part-time as a pizza delivery executive on weekends to supplement his income. He resided in North Philadelphia.

According to his family members, Anshul received an order for three pizzas to an apartment unit in the Raymond Rosen Homes complex. He arrived at the location around 12:30 AM. Moments after entering the premises, he was reportedly ambushed by two unidentified assailants wearing masks, who opened fire at close range. Anshul sustained a severe gunshot wound to the back of his head and collapsed.

Passersby later discovered him and alerted emergency services, but he succumbed to his injuries. His sister, Tanvi, shared that the pizza order was for a vacant apartment, leading to suspicions that it was a 'trap' specifically designed to target him.

The Indian Consulate General in New York has expressed profound sadness over the incident, and investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding this shocking death. The community mourns the loss of a young man who was striving to build a better future abroad.
