PM Modi congratulates India on Blind Women’s T20 World Cup victory

The Indian women's team's victory in the inaugural Blind Women's T20 World Cup was praised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who called it a "shining example of hard work, teamwork, and determination." By winning the first-ever Women's T20 World Cup for the Blind, India made history. In a lopsided final in Colombo on Sunday, India defeated Nepal by seven wickets.

PM Modi wrote on X,

"Congratulations to the Indian Blind Women’s Cricket Team for creating history by winning the inaugural Blind Women’s T20 World Cup! More commendable is the fact that they stayed unbeaten in the series. This is indeed a historic sporting achievement, a shining example of hard work, team work and determination. Each player is a champion! My best wishes to the team for their future endeavours. This feat will inspire generations to come.”

Jay Shah, the chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC), also praised the team for their accomplishment, saying it "redefines the limits of ability." Taking to X, Jay wrote,

“Congratulations to the @blind_cricket Indian team for winning the first-ever Blind Women’s T20 World Cup, an event that re-defines the limits of ‘ability’ and inspires differently abled athletes in India and around the world.”

Indian bowlers put on an outstanding display with the ball after choosing to field first. Nepal was held to 114/5 in 20 overs by the Indian bowlers' tight lines. The Indian batsmen ensured there was no further danger by reaching 100 runs in the first ten overs of their chase.

Phula Saren, the opener, delivered a game-winning knock. She hit four boundaries and 44 runs off 27 balls. Due to her innings, India was able to secure the title by chasing down the target in the 13th over. In addition, Karuna K contributed with a 42 off 27 balls. Saren was named Player of the Match for her outstanding performance.

Deepika TC, the captain of India, revealed that they are extremely proud of this victory after making history. The team as a whole put forth a lot of effort to win the title, she continued.

India performed brilliantly in the T20 World Cup for the Blind, winning the competition by going undefeated. India defeated Sri Lanka handily to start their campaign. India defeated Australia by 57 runs after the Australians were unable to reach the target of 293 runs. In just 10.2 overs, India chased down the 136-run target, overcoming Pakistan. India won the trophy with a decisive victory over Nepal and went on to crush Australia by nine wickets in the semi-final.
