Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra paid her respects on X, recalling Sreenivasan’s long journey in cinema and the impact of his work on people. She described his storytelling as humane and his wit as enduring, noting that his films touched countless hearts.
The last rites were held on Sunday morning in Kochi, with Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar paying tributes. Vijayan called the loss irreparable and praised how Sreenivasan brought to life the world of the common man, guiding viewers through humor and reflection toward greater awareness.
The Governor offered condolences as well, highlighting his iconic performances and enduring contributions to cinema.
The ceremony also featured attendance from the film fraternity and colleagues who paid respects, including Parvathy Thiruvothu, Renji Panicker, Sathyan Anthikkad, Jagadish, and Prithviraj Sukumaran, among others. The event was conducted with full state honours, underscoring the stature and influence of a man who helped shape Malayalam cinema over decades.
