Mumbai Police on Saturday arrested actor Kamaal R Khan in connection with a firing incident inside Nalanda Society on Lokhandwala Back Road in Andheri West. Two bullets were reportedly fired, but there were no casualties, officials said. The incident came to light after two residents heard loud sounds and later found projectiles on the second and fourth floors, along with impact marks on walls and a wooden case.
A police team visited the building, summoned forensic experts from the State FSL Kalina, and collected the projectiles for analysis. It was not immediately clear whether the projectiles were bullets fired from a firearm or pellets from an air gun. CCTV footage from the vicinity was examined as part of the inquiry, and residents were questioned to piece together the sequence of events.
Khan is being interrogated to ascertain the motive behind the incident and to determine how the firing occurred. He is to be produced before a local court in due course. Police have stated that KRK accepted responsibility for the firing in his statement, though investigators will continue to corroborate the account with physical evidence and CCTV data. The case has drawn attention due to the celebrity involved, with residents of the Nalanda Society describing the area as a typical middle-class neighbourhood where such an event is uncommon. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities seek to establish a clear timeline and motive.
