Esther Ogunmabo, a centenarian, was apprehended on Saturday, August 15, by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) with 90 grams of "skunk," a potent strain of cannabis, packaged in sachets. According to the NDLEA, Ms.
Ogunmabo confessed that she resorted to drug dealing after her shop was tragically destroyed by fire. She further claimed that one of her daughters, based in Lagos, was responsible for arranging the supply of the substance to her every four days, which she then sold off in smaller quantities to locals.
The elderly woman was pictured holding a whiteboard displaying her personal information, standing beside what police identified as the seized drugs, though her face was blurred by the agency due to her advanced age. In a compassionate turn, Ms.
Ogunmabo was granted bail and referred for counselling, acknowledging her exceptional age.
