A man has been charged following the tragic death of a nine-year-old girl in Arbroath. The distressing incident unfolded early Sunday morning on the Elliot Industrial Estate, where emergency services were called after reports that the child, from West Yorkshire, had been found injured.
The young girl was rushed to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee alongside four other individuals but sadly succumbed to her injuries. Police Scotland confirmed that a 35-year-old white British man, who was known to the girl, has been arrested and subsequently charged in connection with her death.
He is scheduled to appear at Forfar Sheriff Court today, Wednesday. Detective Inspector Mike Ness, from Police Scotland's major investigation team, stated that authorities are not seeking anyone else in connection with this heartbreaking case.
The girl's family, who were reportedly camping in the area at the time, are receiving support from specialist officers during this incredibly difficult period. Detective Inspector Ness extended the police's thoughts to all those affected by these events and assured the public that a police presence would remain in the area as enquiries continue.
