Haryanvi Singer Ankit Balyan Murder: Wife Issues Ultimatum, Cops Hunt Killers!

The brutal murder of popular Haryanvi singer and YouTuber Ankit Balyan in Shamli, Uttar Pradesh, has sent shockwaves across the region, prompting his distraught wife to issue a desperate four-day ultimatum to the police, threatening self-immolation if justice is not served. The incident has also ignited a political storm, with opposition parties criticizing the ruling BJP-led government over the state's law and order situation.

Ankit Balyan was tragically shot dead on Wednesday (August 26, 2026) evening while leaving a gym in the Kotwali area of Shamli. Four assailants, riding two motorcycles, opened fire, leaving him critically injured.

He was declared dead at a community health centre.

The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) and other police teams are now on a massive manhunt, tracing the escape route of the four suspects to Haryana using extensive CCTV footage gathered from Shamli, Loni in Ghaziabad, Delhi, and Sonipat. Balyan, a resident of Banti Kheda village in Shamli, had carved a niche for himself in the Haryanvi music scene.

His YouTube channel boasted over 3.68 lakh subscribers, and his songs, often featuring themes of violence, defiance, and rivalry, garnered millions of views. Ironically, just hours before his death, Balyan had shared a video on Instagram promoting his new song 'Baby Badmash', singing lines like "Murder maar de sadak ke upar", a chilling premonition of his own fate.

Before his music career, Balyan was a state-level kabadi player until 2013-14, forced to quit due to a leg fracture. Adding to the tragedy, Balyan's wife, Seema, has accused the police of negligence, alleging that her husband had sought police protection prior to his murder but was denied.

Her desperate threat of self-immolation underscores the family's anguish and their plea for swift action.

Meanwhile, political parties like the Samajwadi Party and Congress have seized upon the incident, condemning the perceived breakdown of law and order under the current administration, further escalating the pressure on investigating authorities.
