Los Angeles police say the 21-year-old alt-pop artist D4vd, whose legal name is David Burke, was arrested on suspicion of murdering a 14-year-old girl whose dismembered remains were found last year in an abandoned Tesla registered to him. He is being held without bail, and prosecutors are expected to review the case before presenting it to the District Attorney for potential charges.
The remains belong to Celeste Rivas Hernandez, who authorities say would have turned 15 the day after the discovery. The body was found Sept. 8 after the car was towed from the Hollywood Hills, and investigators described a grim scene inside the storage compartment. A 2023 Tesla Model Y registered to the singer was involved in the case.
Earlier, a Los Angeles County grand jury had examined the singer’s possible role in her death; the proceedings were confidential, and public details only emerged after his family objected in a Texas court to subpoenas seeking their testimony. Authorities have not released additional information about possible charges or witnesses, and the investigation continues.
