Delhi University has officially kicked off the seat allocation process for its much-anticipated one-year postgraduate (PG) programme! This is a crucial time for thousands of students hoping to continue their academic journey at one of India's most prestigious universities.
Candidates who have been allotted seats across 28 departments since Tuesday have a critical window to accept their offers. Make sure to accept your allotted seat by August 6. Following your acceptance, university departments will move swiftly to verify and approve your applications. Once approved, the final step is to pay the necessary fees, with the deadline set for August 9.
This year's admission process has seen some significant developments. Initially, there were widespread concerns among students regarding the limited number of seats available for the one-year PG course. Many graduates from the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP) found themselves facing stiff competition for what seemed like too few spots. These concerns quickly escalated into protests, pushing the university to re-evaluate its offerings.
In response to student activism, Delhi University last week announced a substantial increase in available seats. The number of seats for the one-year PG programme has nearly doubled, jumping from approximately 1,100 to an impressive 2,287. This expansion aims to accommodate a larger number of deserving students. Furthermore, the university confirmed that the one-year PG programme will now also be offered through the School of Open Learning (SOL), providing even more flexibility and accessibility for learners. While the first round of allocations has begun, a university official clarified that the schedule for other departments is still pending and will be announced soon. Keep an eye out for further updates!
