Peter Murrell Admits Embezzling £400k for Luxury Goods and Video Games

Peter Murrell, the former chief executive of the Scottish National Party (SNP), has admitted to embezzling more than £400,000 from the party over a period of twelve years. Murrell, who is also the husband of former Scottish leader Nicola Sturgeon, pleaded guilty at the High Court in Edinburgh to taking the funds between August 2010 and October 2022.

However, the spending wasn't always on big-ticket items; the court heard that party money was even used for low-cost purchases such as hand cream and chopsticks.

Coffee was another recurring expense in the embezzlement trail. Murrell reportedly used the funds for everything from expensive coffee machines and roasted beans to simple jars of instant Nescafe.
