The cricket world is abuzz after Rocky Flintoff, the 18-year-old son of former England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff, smashed his maiden professional century for Lancashire in the One-Day Cup. This spectacular performance led Lancashire to a dominant victory over Somerset and set up an exciting quarter-final clash against Ben Stokes and Durham.
Playing at Taunton, young Flintoff reached his century in a blistering 65 balls, propelling Lancashire to a record-breaking List A score of 443 for six. He showcased his power and skill, hitting eight fours and four sixes during his milestone innings. Somerset subsequently collapsed, managing only 269 all out in 39.2 overs, handing Lancashire a massive 174-run win.
Captain George Balderson and Tom Aspinwall were instrumental with the ball, each claiming four wickets.
Lancashire secured home advantage for Friday's quarter-final after Durham, featuring England superstar Ben Stokes, surprisingly lost by 77 runs to Worcestershire, finishing third in Group B.
Stokes himself had a tough outing, conceding 61 runs from his nine overs for a single wicket, and was dismissed for just one run as Durham were bowled out for 214. Elsewhere in the competition, No. 7 batter Tom Taylor's impressive 86 from 74 balls for Worcestershire wasn't enough to save his team from elimination. Yorkshire will host Nottinghamshire in another quarter-final after finishing as Group B runners-up.
Ben Coad (three for 22) and Dom Bess (three for 32) shone for Essex, who were dismissed for 151, but Will Bennison (60) and James Wharton (51 not out) guided Yorkshire to a comfortable seven-wicket win. Nottinghamshire also qualified with a six-wicket victory, chasing down Surrey's 298 with 13 balls to spare, thanks to George Munsey's superb 138 from 132 balls.
Leicestershire and Middlesex, who both topped their respective groups, will bypass the quarter-finals and proceed directly to the semi-finals. Middlesex clinched Group B with a strong 92-run win over Sussex, with Joe Cracknell (128) and Nathan Fernandes (92) laying a solid foundation with a 202-run partnership for the third wicket.
Derbyshire and Gloucestershire also registered wins on the day.
