BREAKING: ED Raids TMC MP Nadimul Haque Amidst Money Laundering Probe!

In a significant development on Monday morning, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) initiated widespread search operations across seven premises in Kolkata, Delhi, and Ranchi. These raids are part of an ongoing money laundering investigation targeting Trinamool Congress (TMC) Rajya Sabha MP Nadimul Haque.

Mr. Haque, a 56-year-old journalist and businessman, has been the proprietor of the Urdu daily Akhbar-E-Mashriq since 2004, where he serves as a director of Akhbar-E-Mashriq Pvt Ltd. The newspaper, founded in 1980, circulates its editions across major cities including Delhi, Kolkata, Ranchi, Lucknow, Bhopal, and Srinagar.

He has also served as the head of the West Bengal Urdu Akademi.

According to officials, the probe stems from allegations that include the promotion of communal disharmony through the publication or dissemination of material. Furthermore, the investigation is looking into claims of illegal transactions, unaccounted cash dealings, and funding from suspicious sources.

The case was triggered by an FIR lodged under the Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate, based on which the ED registered an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR). This action comes amidst a politically charged atmosphere. Mr.

Haque is noted for his loyalty to Mamata Banerjee following her party's defeat in the 2026 state Assembly election.

This particular case is one of several recent actions by the ED involving the Trinamool Congress, with previous reports mentioning the freezing of ₹440 crore in different bank accounts of the party and the questioning of Trinamool MLA Madan Mitra in a separate "gold-for-jobs" case.
