Final Tamil Nadu electoral rolls drop to 5.67 crore after removing over 74 lakh names; voters can appeal changes and rolls will be shared with parties.
The Election Commission released the final electoral rolls for Tamil Nadu after the Special Intensive Revision, showing the electorate has fallen from 6.41 crore to 5.67 crore as of February 23, 2026, marking deletions of more than 74 lakh names. The updated rolls list around 2.7 crore men, 2.8 crore women, and 7,617 third gender voters.
Shozhinganallur assembly constituency in Chengalpattu district records the highest number of electors at about 5.36 lakh, while Harbour constituency has the lowest at approximately 1.16 lakh. Voters who find discrepancies or wish to add or remove names may file appeals following the process outlined under the Representation of the People Act. The Election Commission will also share the final roll with political parties for scrutiny.
This revision marks the ninth electoral roll update since independence. The current exercise comes ahead of polls scheduled in Tamil Nadu and other states, with further state-level revisions planned as part of ongoing efforts to ensure accurate voter lists for the election season.
